The New Recruits
The Looney: A vigilante who’s a born detective, to a great many
appears to be insane but possesses a keen mind second only to Sherlock Holmes.
Wearing a mask with no face to obscure his identity the Niagara Falls, NY based
hero. With his mismatched suits, white scarf, and tan gloves, all of which are
tricked out elaborate gadgets or devices to disorient and confuse his opponents.
Believed to be an actual private investigator whose wife was killed by
saboteurs. Name taken for the Canadian money the looney, due to Buffalo’s
proximity to Canada.
Wild Bill: Looking like he should be more at home on the
streets of Tombstone, AZ, this heroic cowboy is adept at shooting his energy
producing six-shooters, Winchester rifle, or expertly using his lasso, to catch
his targets from his robotic flying horse, Silverado. Wild Bill serves the
Buffalo area, all while dealing with his relationship with Lady Liberty. Name
taken for the Buffalo resident, WWI hero, & O.S.S. creator ‘Wild’ Bill Donovan.
Lady Liberty: A powerful heroine who has superhuman strength, the ability to
fly, and possesses energy-based powers that allow her to fire explosive bursts
through her torch as a focus, but it is not necessary. Her patriotic themed
identity was taken from the bank where she works from in her civilian identity,
whereas most believe she based herself off the Statue of Liberty. Taken for the
Liberty National Bank.
Blackrock: An African American hero who became a symbol
for a great many people throughout the country, who like Blackrock faced
prejudice & bigotry in their lives. Using his shield and his energized baton
Blackrock first stopped corrupt police officers from extorting money from
African American run businesses throughout the Queen City, then eventually he
became a National advocate for African American civil rights. Taken for the
Blackrock neighborhood in Buffalo.
Blackthorn: The swashbuckling hero from South
Buffalo who can project shoots through a shillelagh that acts as a focus for his
power. He can use these shoots as tangle-wire to ensnare opponents, as a
swinging line, or project large thorns to Buffalo as projectiles with various
effects. Although some see his attitude as a bit cavalier, he takes his work
seriously. Name taken for the large Irish population & the Blackthorn restaurant
in South Buffalo.
Casey Jones: Inspired by Buffalo’s links to the railroad
industry, this mystery man who rides a mini locomotive/modified handcar and
carries a gimmicked coal shovel which is a multi-purpose weapon and tool, that
can be used as a steel grappling hook. The shovel can also be split into two
parts, one of which is a fighting baton, the other of which ends in a shovel
blade. Casey Jones knowing how important the American/Canadian border during the
Second World War was sought to defend the region and railways from criminals,
saboteurs, and Axis sympathizers. Taken for the Iron Island neighborhood and the
railroad industry.
Steel Industry: an African American employee of the Bethlehem
Steele company who was overlooked multiple times due his skin color, despite
being a mechanical genius and inventor, discovered both Bethlehem Steel and the
nearby Republic Steel company were going to be targeted by Axis Agents and no
one would listen to him, he improvised specialized weapons and a protective
suit, because he knew a number of innocent people, especially his fellow colored
workers would be hurt or killed and those in charge and certain authorities did
very little for their employees. Steel Industry’s first suit was equipped with
motorized roller skates in the boots, gauntlet mounted blasters that had an air
cannon in one & a rivet gun the other. The suit also provided super strength and
invulnerability from most standard weapons. Future updated armors increased
S.I.’s abilities including flight. Taken for the former massive steel
manufacturing businesses in the Buffalo area.
The Saber: the possessor of a
mystical saber that can slice through almost anything, granting her speed,
strength, and amazing dueling prowess, to the extant she can even cut bullets in
half when shot at her. The Saber has been reported to be able to even slice
through the air creating some sort shielding. Although no one is positive of the
weapon’s origin, it’s believed by some that it was among a cache of weapons
created by citizens of Atlantis. Taken for the NHL team the Buffalo Sabers.
The
Blizzard: Possessing powers to manipulate cold, encase people in snow and ice,
create an ice barricade or generate “ice sleds” for transport, and even release
ice as projectiles, no one is positive of his origins or background, but some
think Blizzard maybe connected to the villain/creature Lakefront, but has proven
himself a hero time and again. Taken for the Blizzard of ’77.
The Colonial: One
of the most powerful of Buffalo’s heroes, this apparition is the spirit of a
female colonial from Buffalo’s past, who fought against the British during the
Revolutionary War, disguised as a man. She was discovered by traitorous members
of her unit, who were loyal to King George, and they murdered her. With her
spirit still trapped between life and death centuries after the betrayal, the
Colonial witnessed one of her descendants, a woman who discovered her employers
were looking to sell stolen weapons technology secrets to Axis agents. Before
she could be harmed, her ancestor’s spirit possessed her, giving her vast
ghostly powers, and she/they were able to stop the traitors and agents as a
spirit of vengeance against those who’d harm her homeland or women & children.

The Wingman: A manager from the Bell
Aircraft company was developing an experimental flying harness and wings with
hopes for it to be used for future military operations. While testing it out the
manager witnessed one of his company’s experimental jet aircraft, that was being
developed begin to crash, and he was able to save the pilot, without being
recognized by anyone. Later when interviewed the pilot said to reporters “I
don’t know who he is, but he can always be my wingman.” Inspired by what
happened and the recent activities of Casey Jones, the manager decided to keep
the harness & wings to help protect the home front. Taken for Real Buffalo
